25 Jul 2012 11:57 PM #11I think the customers who want to choose buying agent in China have the same confusion. Actually, in my opinion, there is some luck factor in this issue. In China, there are lots of buying agents that are good, but also there is some guy not so responsible. That is why some customer complain for their losses.
Good buying agent are very helpful if you find one, ensure delivery time, quality control, payment safety, they can do more than you think.
Wish you good luck to find a good buying agent.

Just a few factories are actually base in Hong Kong. That is why Hong Kong trading companies are best positioned to spread the word about Chinese / Hong Kong factory scams.
At present competition is fierce, so factories focus on service and credit more and more. Compare to a trading company, factories have more advantages. So it's good idea to cooperate with the factory directly.

I would suggest finding an import / export company in China instead of middleman. A company is more credible than an individual. A good agency will even arrange for their clients to visit the factory.

If it is feasible then try to come to China this fall for the I.E commodity fair (old name: Canton Fair) where you should get access to many related manufacturers/factories. You can also visit the manufacturers factories to verify.

Usually asking whether they are a trading company does the trick - however there are a few other ways just PM me.
By ordering more you started having issues with receiving goods on time? This may be due to the factory outsourcing the products from other factories? How large are these orders?

Google "sourcing agent in china" or "buying agent in china", compare the companies you find.
I suggest you work on samples and small QTY at first, trust will be built along with time. Good luck!

In my opinion, using a trading company is a good choice because they know details and potential problems during production. They also tend to offer a more timely response.

07 Mar 2013 11:26 PM #18There is no doubt that some buying agents do a good job, but I still recommend going direct to the manufacturer. You can verify suppliers from home or by way of visits to China.
Buying offshore has many traps for the unwary, but if you are well prepared and well educated on the subject you will be a lot safer. I imported for 22 years and was seriously burnt only once. The con was perpetrated locally by the sales rep for an international freight company. To learn safe overseas sourcing and how to buy small (or large) quantities at best prices see→ http://provenchinasourcing.comLearn to find genuine manufacturers and negotiate small orders at prices way below what wholesalers charge. Honestly speaking, if you love the quality of the product and the profit from your current purchase price is good, I just advice you keep the relationship with your current supplier. Meanwhile, you can make contact with anyone who you can confirm to be a factory, then check their samples. You can compare the price and quality, then you will have a choice.
