Starting an online head shop - Legal High Issues

What does it take to start an online head shop? I want to start an ecommerce store that sells bongs, water pipes, grinders, rolling papers and more.

What are the legal issues associated with owning a head shop online?

It is legal to operate an online head shop, there are no worries there. However, you need to ensure that you and your business are protected.

      • Make sure users comply to website terms of service
      • Describe products for informational use
      • Do not mention marijuana by name or reference

There are some online head shops that use “cannabis” though some decide to omit the word.

Other than that, you start an online head shop as you would any other business: create a business plan, raise capital, research suppliers and design a website.

      Good luck!

Mention on your website that your head shop accepts no responsibility for use of products and you’ll be solid.

What else would I need in my terms of service for an Internet head shop?

Reviewing other online head shops can help you figure out what you want your terms to state.

First, you need to ask the user to confirm that he is at least 18 years of age. Even when you visit a B&M head shop they ask for identification.

Here is a good example of a term of service for a head shop: Online head shop - Legal highs, bongs, pipes and ethnobotanicals

I would recommend having the wording reviewed by your solicitor.

For the past five years my head shop website hasn’t brought me any problems.

The big key is the wording in your website. Comparing terms between online head shops is a great suggestion.

Make sure the terms of service include where the products should be used.

nice idea...you can find supplier on b2b networks and if you want to keep start up cost low..try Dropshipping model.

Have a look at the terms of service from other head sites and use them to compile your own.
