Importing Mountain Dew into the UK?

Can we import Mountain Dew into the UK? What would be the VAT or duty rates?

The best tool out there to calculate VAT or duty rates is Calculate your import duty in a few quick steps for free | The DutyCalculator

However, it appears that the European Union has stopped the ability to sell the American version of Mountain Dew in the UK – at least according to an announcement from American Soda. The reason stated on American Soda’s Facebook page was “Mountain Dew does not conform to European Union Standards” which is probably the issue of exceeding the sugar content regulations.

A similar situation occurred back in 1996 where Mountain Dew was introduced and was compliant with the sugar and caffeine limits set by the British food standards agency. The UK Mountain Dew was removed from the UK market due to lack of sales in 1998.

PepsiCo launched a new version of Mountain Dew in the UK as of April 2010 called “Mountain Dew Energy”. It is categorized as a glucose stimulant – also known as an energy drink. This allows the flavour to be closer to the American Mountain Dew. So far, it appears the product is doing alright, although it is still quite scarce at the retail level.

You should check with Mountain Dew directly to determine if there are any options for trade or import http://cr.mountaindew.com/inen/dewinen.cfm?date=20110215 .

Another possibility is to work with importers such as American Soda or PS Foods Limited (PS FOODS LTD | IMPORTING YOUR FAVOURITE AMERICAN GROCERIES TO THE UK AND EUROPE ) to determine if there would be trade opportunities for you.

What are the big Brand Names for Supplements

Can someone help me figure out what supplement brands to target? I want to include unbranded supplements in my webstore, as well as feature the more popular brands. Anyone have an opinion on this, please share it.
