Has anyone tried selling on Bonanza? Review it for me, if you would.

Hey guys. Iím trying to get a feel for Bonanza. Iíve been looking over their site and heard that itís a good alternative to eBay, but wanted to hear from some users I knew first. Going onto other forums is good but I donít know how many of those are placed ads by Bonanza. Maybe Iím skeptical.

Anyway. Does anyone here use Bonanza Ė is it a good site? Are the fees unreasonable? Any reviews would be helpful.

      Thanks!
      -Bill

Bonanza is a good site for both sellers and buyers. They were once known as Bonanzle but changed their name this year. It hasnít seem to hurt them, Bonanza is certainly easier to spell and remember, but there have been some worries that it will affect sales. Theyíve been around for a couple of years now and as with other sites there are good and bad things being sad about them.

You can list pretty much anything you want to sell

      ē Cars
      ē Antiques
ē Travel plans i.e. vacation packages, rental cars
      ē Video games
      ē DVDs
      ē Cameras Ė lenses, flashes

They have a wide range of categories. Saying they are a good alternative to eBay isnít really accurate however. On eBay you auction off your items, even if they are buy it now but on Bonanza you are selling them. There are no auctions.

Another thing about Bonanza is that if you arenít into self-promotion you might not like it. You have to drive customers to your booths. I like it because Iím a social media person anyway but I know some people who really donít like that factor.

They offer free listings which are good and it is different from eBay because this is more geared towards the seller. Be wary though because a lot of the business is done within the Bonanza social network Ė meaning that you need to get the attention of the Bonanza buyer.

One of the cool things that they are doing though is specializing their sites. They started this with their specialty bags and from what I can tell it is working out well. I hope they roll out more like that. Users I know selling specialty bags are enjoying that already.

Bonanza also offers different pay out options too Ė

      ē Paypal
      ē Money order
      ē Google checkout

Youíll find arguments for all three on other forums. Personally I offer all three.

Yeah, perhaps my alternative to eBay wasnít the best use of terms but you know what Iím getting at. It just seems eBay has gone awry and I donít want to put all my eggs in one basket.

Is it free to list every item? How do they make money then?

Iíve been using Bonanza ever since they were Bonanzle. Yes, they offer free listings but now they charge you depending on what you sold your item for. Itís not much, but donít think they are free. And the different pay options are helpful.

When you start looking at new sites you need to look at who is using them. For Bonanza there numbers have grown too close to, if not over, 200,000 users. Sure you will find people who donít like them, but theyíve got to be doing something right to keep that many people around.

Nothing is ever free. Itís like a bank telling you they have free checking, but then they want to charge you to discuss your checking account with the teller.

Bonanza has come a long way since they were Bonanzle. Personally I think they are a good option over eBay because itís a lot simpler to use. No more going through several pages and links just to list an item. They have a very simple process. You can list your first item in mere minutes and be selling.

Ok so they arenít free but what do you think about them. Are they good? Howís the service? With other sites it can take a while to get a response. Plus I really like the look of Bonanza but I donít want to judge a book by its cover Ė or should I say a website by its homepage.

That look you admire is a relatively new one. When they changed their name in September of this year they did an overhaul on their site at the same time, which Iím glad for because I like the functionality a lot better. Plus the ever changing pictures on the home page gives sellers something snazzy to look at instead of a static image.
