Any reviews for Overstock’s auction section?

Hi. Has anyone used Overstock.com’s auction section before? If so would you recommend using it? What’s good/ Not so great about it? Thanks for your help!

Hey. Overstock’s auction tool is actually a pretty good place. They have many categories for items and it’s very easy to navigate.

Here are some great features of Overstock Auctions:

-A good rating system of buyers and sellers

    - Top searches automatically pop up

-Great References and guides explaining how to work the site

-You can create your own homepage

    - Searches show up in order to relevance

    - Make It Mine option (the equivalent of eBay’s Buy it Now)

    - No Reserve Auctions, meaning there is no minimum

    - Steals of the week--- which are basically featured items.

-When an auction has a high amount of activity right before it closes, the auction is extended for another 10 minutes. Otherwise known as “soft close auctions”.

Overstock Auctions accept PayPal, Credit Cards and have an Auction Checkout option. Having payment options for buyers is always a good idea.

There are many different categories of items and products on Overstock Auction. You can even buy real estate!

    Some downsides:

-Sellers have to provide credit card information when they sign up (some people might not like this idea)

-There are less items listed on Overstock than if you searched for the same item on eBay. Well that might make it easier for you, the seller, to make the sale!

    - It sometimes may take a little while to get a response from customer service, whether it’s through email or the live chat option.

You forgot to mention their seller and buyer protection!! That is my favorite part of Overstock Auction.

First of all, they have the BuySafe program for buyer protection. And, for sellers they offer Pay to Play. This means that for expensive items buyers have to make a deposit payment when they bid, which of course, they get back if they do not win the auction.

Seems like a decent place to put some items up for sale. What are the fees like? Moderate or expensive?

Overstock is free to sign up. In general it’s a little less expensive than eBay. Here’s how the fees work:

Insertion Fee- $.10- $3.15 depending on the starting price of the item

Reserve Price Fee- $.66- $70 the fees are refunded if winning bid meets or exceeds reserve price

Upgrade Fee- $.10- $3.17 depending on option

Final Value- At least 3%, but this depends on the final price when the auction is over

Overstock’s Auction is missing some of my favorite features used by eBay and other auction sites. There is no prefilled information. You also cannot make private auctions, which I prefer to use. You cannot block any bidders. Other than all that I generally like Overstock Auction. They are really committed to buyer and seller protection.

When you search for an item, the list comes up in order of relevance.
